Notorious by Allison Brennan is fantastic! Coming

***********Thank you Edelweiss for allowing me to read this title!****************

Description:

Maxine Revere has dedicated her life to investigating murders that the police have long since given up any hope of solving. A nationally renowned investigative reporter with her own TV show and a tough-as-nails reputation, Max tackles cold cases from across the country and every walk of life. But the one unsolved murder that still haunts her is a case from her own past.

When Max was a high school senior, one of her best friends was strangled and another, Kevin O’Neal, accused of the crime. To the disgrace of her wealthy family, Max stood by her friend, until she found out he lied about his alibi. Though his guilt was never proven, their relationship crumbled from the strain of too many secrets.

Now Max is home for Kevin’s funeral—after years of drug abuse, he committed suicide. She’s finally prepared to come to terms with the loss of his friendship, but she’s not prepared for Kevin’s sister to stubbornly insist that he didn’t kill himself. Or for an elderly couple to accost her at the airport, begging her to look into another murder at Max’s old high school. Max is more interested in the cold case at her alma mater than in digging around Kevin’s troubled life, but she agrees to do both. As Max uncovers dark secrets, she finds herself caught in a complicated web of lies that hit far too close to home. And it’s becoming increasingly clear that someone will do whatever it takes to make sure the truth stays buried.

Maxine came home to give Kevin's sister closure over her brother's death. Jodi doesn't believe he committed suicide, but after years of drug abuse, Maxine isn't so sure. She doesn't plan to investigate his death, or her high school friend Lindy's, and she also gets involved in a case of a construction worker killed at her old high school.

Someone definitely doesn't want her to solve ANY of those murders.

I loved this book. It had the right amount of everything in it. Max was a great, strong female character. I wish Nick had made it in more. And, just to let you know, its NOT who you think it is!

Kimberly Kincaid heats it up with her new romance "Turn Up the Heat"

Description:
"It's not you."
There are only so many times a girl can hear those words before she believes that it is, in fact, very much her. Unexpectedly jilted by her locally famous boyfriend and haunted by a boss who makes Attila the Hun look like a lap dog, Bellamy Blake does what any self-respecting girl in her shoes would do. She rounds up her two best girlfriends and makes plans to get the hell out of Dodge. . .
But Bellamy's escape plan takes a nose dive on the side of rural route 164 when her transmission self-destructs, leaving her in the middle of a cell phone dead zone with nothing but her wits. Oh, and Shane Griffin, the hottest mechanic who's ever checked under her hood.
Yet this small-town man isn't all he seems. Can Shane and Bellamy prove that sometimes the most unlikely ingredients make the most deliciously sexy mix?

Bellamy has a crazy boss at work who piles work on her and demands it done NOW. On top of that, she finds out through friends that her long time boyfriend is moving across the country, and apparently has no intention on asking her to go with him.
Bellamy and her friends schedule a weekend away at Pine Mountain resort. On her way there, her car breaks down. She seeks out Shane for help, as he works at the mechanics shop in the near town of Pine Mountain.  Sparks fly between her and Shane but Bellamy's life is upside down, especially when her witch of a boss calls and demands she end her vacation and come back to finish work. She quits her job right then and there with no clue what to do with her life. But she can't seem to resist Shane, and Shane, as much as he doesn't want the little rich girl in his life, can't keep away.  But Shane isn't what he seems. Can Bellamy accept him?

I enjoyed this book. I'm not sure how I feel about the latest trend romance authors are having where two people meet and fall in love within hours.. or a few days. But still, it was a nice story, and I loved all the food talk!

Patricia Briggs' new Mercy Thompson book "Night Broken"

First off, let me say... Fabulous! As always..

Description:
An unexpected phone call heralds a new challenge for Mercy. Her mate Adam’s ex-wife is in trouble, on the run from her new boyfriend. Adam isn’t the kind of man to turn away a person in need—and Mercy knows it. But with Christy holed up in Adam’s house, Mercy can’t shake the feeling that something about the situation isn’t right.

Soon, her suspicions are confirmed when she learns that Christy has the farthest thing from good intentions. She wants Adam back and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen, including turning Adam’s pack against Mercy.

Mercy isn’t about to step down without a fight, but there’s a more dangerous threat circling. Christy’s ex is more than a bad man—in fact, he may not be human at all. As the bodies start piling up, Mercy must put her personal troubles aside to face a creature with the power to tear her whole world apart.

Adam's ex-wife has gained the attentions of a dangerous stalker.  Christy calls Adam in hysterics because she has acquired a stalker who may have killed another man that she briefly dated. Adam allows Christy to come stay with them until her stalker is found.  However, Christy somehow manages to take over the house and make Mercy very uncomfortable. It doesn't help that a few female pack members still consider Christy a friend and think Mercy is petty and jealous.
To top it off, there is a fae knocking at her door wanting the walking stick back. Which she doesn't have. She gave it to Coyote, feeling she didn't have any other choice. So now she has to find Coyote and get it back.
Then Mercy is attacked by Christy's stalker she realized that he is very much NOT a human. And he is alot more dangerous than originally thought, because no one knows what he is much less how to defeat him.

Okay, yeah, loved it! Seriously, Ms Briggs has never gone wrong and she still keeps 'em coming and they are awesome! I really liked Mercy in this one. She is a strong female, but she also doesn't want to hurt Christy's feelings, even though Christy appears to be moving in on Adam. She also tries to befriend Honey, who's husband Peter died in an earlier book. Mercy also not only finds Coyote, but she also finds a "brother", another child of Coyote who is a shifter, unfortunately Coyote took too much interest in poor Gary and spends alot of time in prison. So, anyways, great book! Now, *sigh* a whole year til the next one! :(
