Julie Kagawa and the dragons are back!

Thank you NetGalley for an Advanced copy of this title!

Description:
Ember Hill left the dragon organization Talon to take her chances with rebel dragon Cobalt and his crew of rogues. But Ember can't forget the sacrifice made for her by the human boy who could have killed her—Garret Xavier Sebastian, a soldier of the dragonslaying Order of St. George, the boy who saved her from a Talon assassin, knowing that by doing so, he'd signed his own death warrant.

Determined to save Garret from execution, Ember must convince Cobalt to help her break into the Order's headquarters. With assassins after them and Ember's own brother helping Talon with the hunt, the rogues find an unexpected ally in Garret and a new perspective on the underground battle between Talon and St. George.

A reckoning is brewing and the secrets hidden by both sides are shocking and deadly. Soon Ember must decide: Should she retreat to fight another day…or start an all-out war?

Garret allowed Ember and Riley to escape at the end of Talon, giving himself up to St George in the process. He is tried and scheduled for execution. Ember absolutely will not settle for Garrett giving himself up like that so Ember and Riley, with the help of human hacker Wes, break into St George and rescue Garret before he is executed.

Dante believes in Talon and thinks the right thing to do is bring Ember back into the fold and make her realize that Talon is awesome. Ember knows otherwise. She went rogue because she refused to become a Viper. An assassin. That is certainly not what she wants to do with her life!

They run to Vegas. Hiding in plain sight, the try to rescue two hatchlings who turn out to be Talon operatives. Its a race to escape and in the mean time, Ember is torn between the human Garret and the dragon Riley.

Julie Kagawa has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I loved the Iron Fey and I loved the Call of the Forgotten.. (Fangirl moment, we are getting more Ethan later this year!) And when I found out she was going to be writing about dragons, I danced. Because I am completely obsessed with dragons. And I totally adore this series. It's well written, I love the characters, and I love the story itself. Ms Kagawa writes a story that pulls us in and doesn't let us go.
Well, Happy Reading Everyone!

Fool's Gold is back! Susan Mallery delivers another delicious novel!

Thanks to NetGalley for an Advanced copy of this title

Description:
Destiny Mills believes passion has its place—like in the lyrics of the country songs that made her parents famous. After a childhood full of drama and heartache, she wants a life that's calm. Safe. Everything that Kipling Gilmore isn't. Her temporary assignment with the Fool's Gold search and rescue team puts her in delicious proximity to the former world-class skier every day. Part of her aches to let go for once…the rest is terrified what'll happen if she does.

Though an accident ended his career, Kipling still lives for thrills—and a hot fling with a gorgeous redhead like Destiny would be a welcome diversion. Yet beneath his new coworker's cool facade is a woman who needs more than he's ever given. With her, he's ready to take the risk. But love, like skiing, is all about trust—and before you soar, you have to be willing to fall

Yes! We are returning to Fools Gold, CA! I love all of Ms Mallery's books, but Fools Gold are my absolute favorite! Old and new characters show up to give us a great time!

Kipling survived a horrible skiing crash and was approached by Mayor Marsha about starting a search and rescue organization. He agreed, not really knowing what he was going to do since he couldn't ski anymore.  Destiny works for STORMS, an agency that makes search and rescue computer software. They map the region and find ways to make finding the lost (hopefully) easier.

Destiny isn't looking for a passion filled relationship. She watched her parents fall in and out of love over and over. Her childhood was not the greatest, being the child of the two most famous country singers ever. She has her own talents, but she keeps them pushed back and tries to live very practically. She spends a few months in an area helping set up the STORMS software, then leaves for somewhere else and does the same thing all over again. She doesn't keep anyone close.

Kipling has a deep attraction for Destiny and really, what could a short term relationship hurt? Except Destiny isn't alone. Her half sister, one she barely knew about, is to stay with her for the summer because dear old dad is out of the country. Destiny has absolutely NO CLUE what to do with a teenager!

For the first time, Destiny is making friends and is shown that small town life is kind of great. But trying to deal with an emotional teenage sister and her feelings for Kipling, Destiny is just as lost and confused as ever!

Hey, don't give up guys. Its Fools Gold!! There is always a happy ending :)

Max Revere returns in an all new book by Allison Brennan "Compulsion"

Investigative reporter Maxine Revere has a theory: that the five New York City murders for which Adam Bachman is being tried are just part of his killing spree. In probing the disappearance of a retired couple who vanished the prior summer, Max uncovers striking similarities to Bachman’s MO and develops a theory that Bachman wasn’t working alone.

Max wins a coveted pre-trial interview with the killer, whose disarming composure in the face of her questions is combined with uncomfortable knowledge of Max’s own past. She leaves the room convinced, but unable to prove, that Bachman knows exactly what happened to the missing couple. The D.A. wants nothing to jeopardize his case against Bachman and refuses to consider Max’s theory. With no physical evidence, Max has to rely on her own wits and investigative prowess to dig deep into Bachman’s past. The picture that Max puts together is far darker and more deadly than she ever imagined.
As Max gets closer to the truth, she doesn’t realize that she’s walking down a road that has been paved just for her. That every step she takes brings her one step closer to a brilliant, methodical sociopath who has been waiting for her to make just one small mistake.

Max has been searching for the killers of an Ohio couple. She believes that their murders tie in with Bachman's but no one else wants to even think about that notion. They have Adam and they want him put away. Even the thought of an accomplice can make Bachman's trial go awry.

With a new, all too eager office assistant, Max starts looking into Bachman's past. After a brief meeting with him, she is positive their is an accomplice and sets out to find out who it is.  But it seems like her past is haunting her and she can't outrun it.

The description really does a bang up job of explaining the story, and if you have read the first book, you have a good gist of all the main characters already. If you haven't read "Notorious" please do so. this can be a stand alone, but you get a better feel for the characters if you read the previous book first.  I really like Max. She's a real take charge, not taking any crap from anyone  kind of person. I like David, he's a great supporting character. The new assistant, Riley, is so eager to help and impress Max, that she gets herself into some serious trouble. We again see Nick, the hot detective from California that Max met in Notorious. And we also meet Marco, Max's previous boyfriend who is with the FBI.
This book had Max checking and rethinking on her life and her past. We know Max's mom was.. flighty. And we know she was left with her grandmother when she was ten, but those first ten years are pretty foggy. Now we learn a bit about it and how it has affected Max.

I've always like Ms Brennan's work, but I have really enjoyed Notorious and Compulsion.
