Description:
Destiny Mills believes passion has its place—like in the lyrics of the country songs that made her parents famous. After a childhood full of drama and heartache, she wants a life that's calm. Safe. Everything that Kipling Gilmore isn't. Her temporary assignment with the Fool's Gold search and rescue team puts her in delicious proximity to the former world-class skier every day. Part of her aches to let go for once…the rest is terrified what'll happen if she does.
Though an accident ended his career, Kipling still lives for thrills—and a hot fling with a gorgeous redhead like Destiny would be a welcome diversion. Yet beneath his new coworker's cool facade is a woman who needs more than he's ever given. With her, he's ready to take the risk. But love, like skiing, is all about trust—and before you soar, you have to be willing to fall
Yes! We are returning to Fools Gold, CA! I love all of Ms Mallery's books, but Fools Gold are my absolute favorite! Old and new characters show up to give us a great time!
Kipling survived a horrible skiing crash and was approached by Mayor Marsha about starting a search and rescue organization. He agreed, not really knowing what he was going to do since he couldn't ski anymore. Destiny works for STORMS, an agency that makes search and rescue computer software. They map the region and find ways to make finding the lost (hopefully) easier.
Destiny isn't looking for a passion filled relationship. She watched her parents fall in and out of love over and over. Her childhood was not the greatest, being the child of the two most famous country singers ever. She has her own talents, but she keeps them pushed back and tries to live very practically. She spends a few months in an area helping set up the STORMS software, then leaves for somewhere else and does the same thing all over again. She doesn't keep anyone close.
Kipling has a deep attraction for Destiny and really, what could a short term relationship hurt? Except Destiny isn't alone. Her half sister, one she barely knew about, is to stay with her for the summer because dear old dad is out of the country. Destiny has absolutely NO CLUE what to do with a teenager!
For the first time, Destiny is making friends and is shown that small town life is kind of great. But trying to deal with an emotional teenage sister and her feelings for Kipling, Destiny is just as lost and confused as ever!
Hey, don't give up guys. Its Fools Gold!! There is always a happy ending :)
