Description:
Dallas Phillips refuses to believe her father committed suicide, even though things were tough on his farm and he was deeply in debt. When she hears he'd told a neighbor about an upcoming windfall, she grows suspicious, and her suspicion only deepens when she realizes someone is lurking in the nearby mountains after dark.
For help, she turns to Trey Jakes, local police chief—and her former lover. As they begin to investigate, another mystery comes to light. Trey's mother is beginning to remember events from thirty years ago, something shadowy that happened in the mountains, and Dallas's father was there, too. Is what happened that night connected to his "suicide"? As they search for the truth, Trey and Dallas struggle to fight their attraction, but they may not be able to fend off another force—a killer who's more than willing to kill again to make sure old secrets stay buried.

Dallas Phillips left home because she wanted bright lights and fame. Now she returns home to her fathers farm after he was found dead, hanging in his barn. Dallas absolutely does not believe it was suicide, and pretty soon evidence shows she was right.
Trey Jakes has loved Dallas all his life and was heart broken when she left. Now she's back and he is determined not to let her go again.
Sinister forces are about... Dallas' father and Trey's mom witnessed some sort of crime when they were teenagers, but they were drunk and when the ran, their car crashed. Neither they nor their other friend who was a passenger remember anything about it. Dallas' father was certainly killed because of that.
Dallas found out that her father believed he was about to come into some money. Between proving her father didn't commit suicide, being attacked by a feral fighting dog, and a couple of men on the mountain after her for shooting the dog, Dallas has ALOT to contend with. Can Trey help her through it all and to realize she belongs with him?
